Hey guys, Dr John here again. We’re talking about the types of veneers. Typically you can get composite veneers, also known as same day veneers, or porcelain veneers. Composite veneers have their applications. Typically they’ll be used best in an emergency situation, a tooth chipped or broke, or you only have one tooth that needs to be changed or treated, let’s say if it’s discolored or dark.
The problem with composite veneers is they’re best viewed as a temporary solution because they tend to chip and break, and discolor over time, and for some people they need to be replaced quite often. Maybe two or three times a year
if you want a more permanent solution, we need a more permanent material. Composite veneers are made of the same stuff that we use to treat a cavity. Porcelain veneers are made by a master ceramist in a lab and they’re meant to look a whole lot better, and last a whole lot longer. If you look at our website and our social media, and you see before and afters of veneers, they’re almost always porcelain veneers.
