The Importance of Timely Treatment

A professional teeth cleaning does more than polish your smile. It helps reset your oral health by removing buildup that daily brushing and flossing simply can’t reach, while giving your dental team a closer look at what’s happening beneath the surface.

At JJ Dental, cleanings are never rushed or routine. Each visit is approached with intention, combining advanced techniques with a personalized understanding of your oral health.

We understand how closely oral health is tied to overall well-being. By emphasizing comprehensive, detail-oriented dental cleanings for patients of all ages, we help support healthier smiles and overall wellness. We proudly care for patients from Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Pompano Beach, and Pembroke Pines, offering the same high standard of personalized dentistry across every visit.

When Is a Root Canal Needed?

A root canal may be recommended when the inner portion of the tooth, known as the pulp, becomes inflamed or infected. This can occur due to deep decay, cracks, or repeated dental procedures on the same tooth.

Common signs may include:

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold
  • Discomfort when chewing
  • Swelling or tenderness near the tooth

Early evaluation allows us to determine the most appropriate treatment and prevent the condition from progressing further.

What to Expect During a Root Canal?

Root canals are often misunderstood. In reality, the procedure is designed to resolve the source of the problem while preserving your natural tooth. During the procedure, the inner portion of the tooth is carefully cleaned and sealed to remove infection and protect the remaining structure. The process is precise and focused on preserving the natural tooth. In many cases, the tooth is later restored with a crown to provide strength and protection.

Each case is approached individually, with careful planning to ensure the tooth functions properly and integrates naturally with your bite.

The Cost of a Root Canal in Fort Lauderdale, FL

If a root canal is recommended, our team will take the time to explain your condition and outline the next steps so you feel informed and confident as you move forward. Most dental insurance plans provide coverage for root canal treatment as part of restorative care. We will help you understand your benefits and what to expect before treatment begins.

For any portion not covered, we offer a range of payment options and financing solutions to help you plan your care in a way that works for you. To schedule your visit, call 954-463-7262.

Insurance & Financing

At JJ Dental, our insurance specialists deal directly with your insurance providers.

A thorough breakdown of your benefits enables us to provide the most accurate coverage estimate. Based on this information, we can provide you with a plan that maximizes your benefits and minimizes your out-of-pocket expenses. Once treatment begins, we will submit your insurance claims on your behalf to eliminate any hassle. (See Accepted Insurance)

While most insurance plans cover a large share of preventive and restorative care, they rarely cover cosmetic procedures. For any procedures not covered by your plan or beyond your plan’s maximum benefit, we accept several payment methods, including cash, checks, money orders, and major credit cards. We also offer flexible, no-interest monthly installment plans through Cherry, CareCredit, LendingClub, Alphaeon, and Sunbit, helping you get the treatment you need without a financial burden.

Meet Dr. Yesenia Fernandez-Riera

Dr. Yesenia Fernandez-Riera is a first-generation citizen born in the United States. Her family migrated from Cuba back in 1967 in hopes of a better tomorrow. She was born in South Miami and raised as a true ‘Miamian’ in Hialeah, Florida. Dr. Fernandez was inspired to become a dentist due to the influence of her grandfather, who always wanted to pursue the career but was never able to due to certain family circumstances.

Dr. Fernandez began her journey by pursuing her undergraduate studies in the heart of Miami at Florida International University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation from her Psychology degree, she decided to change up the scenery and move to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida to attain her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, where she met her husband, Dr. Dayron Baez.

During her time in Gainesville, Dr. Fernandez excelled in many aspects of dentistry, including cosmetics, endodontics, prosthetics, and implant dentistry, and graduated top of her class. To continue her education further after earning her doctorate degree, Dr. Fernandez moved to St. Petersburg, where she attended a one-year Advanced Education program to fine-tune her skills in complex full-mouth rehabilitation involving implant dentistry, advanced endodontics, and prosthetic procedures. One of her biggest achievements during her one-year residency was that she was able to become a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Although she enjoyed all parts of dentistry, Dr. Fernandez knew that her heart was in the field of Endodontics. After she finished her Advanced Education residency, she continued to a two-year Endodontics specialty program in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Nova Southeastern
University, where she was able to spend all of her days doing what she loved most, ROOT CANALS, and return home to her family and friends.

When Dr. Fernandez is not in the office, you can find her with her 2 sons, Liam and Logan, and her husband, Dr. Dayron Baez, exploring the town.
