A Crown is not a filling but is actually mounted on top of an existing tooth to change the shape of the tooth. A crown could be a gold crown. It could be a metal crown. There are some patients who want them in the front.
Then there are porcelain fused to metal crowns, which is really just a metal substructure, which gives the crown more resistance to fracture. Then, on top of that metal goes porcelain. You have the strength of the metal, but then you also have the aesthetics of porcelain. Then you have all porcelain crowns, and all […]
You’ve got really two different types of veneers for the most part. One is a prepless (no preparation) veneer, or in some cases people like to refer to them as Lumineers, which is really just a marketing term. It’s not a particular type of porcelain, or it’s not a particular, different type of veneer. It’s just a porcelain facing on the tooth, just as a traditional veneer would be. (more…)

Whether it’s veneers or a crown, or a denture, it doesn’t matter what type of treatment you have in dentistry, you must maintain your teeth by brushing them twice a day and flossing everyday. For some patients, they may have to do it more often than that and they may have to utilize water picks or floss threaders. It is important that you ask your Dentist for specific care instructions for your particular treatment. (more…)

As a kid, I grew up going to my two cousins for my own dental needs. They had a group practice and I was fortunate enough to have braces on for four and-a-half years thanks to them. They did orthodontics and so going to them for four and-a-half years and seeing how they enjoyed their work and their work environment influenced me. They seemed to be having a lot of fun, and so that was my first experience with dentistry. It definitely intrigued me at an early age. (more…)

Our staff is what I’m most proud of. We’ve got three doctors including myself in the office and all are just excellent in their own ways. We have Dr. Brenner who’s been practicing in the office for over 40 years, and he got a fantasist reputation. He’s a wonderful dentist. The patients just fall in love with him. He’s got tons of experience as far as cosmetic dentistry goes, and really general dentistry as well. He’s a great part of our team. I want to emphasize that, at our office, it is a team there. Colgate Total I find to be the best for me. At the end of the day, just about any toothpaste on the market has the same ingredients, and those ingredients are highly effective. The technology today is, you’re really not going to find a toothpaste on the market that bad. You’re really not going to find a toothpaste that’s detrimental to your health, unless you have had an allergy to cinnamon or something and you buy cinnamon flavored toothpaste. Really, you can’t really go wrong. (more…)

It’s really important to find a dentist who you can communicate well with. Unfortunately, you’re not really going to know that until you’ve met that dentist possibly more than one time. You want to get a feeling of consistency. Everybody’s got their best face on when they first meet someone. You go out on a date with a girl, of course, you’re going to put your best foot forward. At least once every month or every two months I take a refresher or workshop course. When I take the courses, I take full weekend courses, or sometimes monthly courses, where you’re going back multiple times with a given time frame. I’m constantly reading, and studying up, and staying in tune with what’s out there. (more…)

You call the office, and the office will call me. Or the emergency call center will call me, and I’ll respond. I call the patient. Either prescribe pain medicine or antibiotics if it’s a patient of record, or I will just agree to either see them on the weekend, if I feel that it’s really that much of an emergency. (more…)
